EU milk propaganda

February 2, 2012

The EU are milking every opportunity to target propaganda at young children, an MEP has pointed out.

“We keep coming across incidents of the EU blatantly targeting school children and yet one more example has now come to my attention,” said Paul Nuttall, local UKIP Euro-MP.

“Schools which get European Union subsidised milk are forced to display a large poster highlighting the fact that ‘the school provides dairy products subsidised under the European school milk scheme’.

“This A3 poster must be ‘situated in a clearly visible and readable place at the main entrance of the school’,” he explained.

“That’s a whole load of free advertising for the generosity of EU, I’m just surprised they don’t also make the children doff their caps as they walk past the poster every day.

“But, of course, it’s not generosity at all, the Brussels bureaucrats are just giving back an infinitesimal part of the £50 million we hand over to them every day.

“Children should be given unbiased information about the EU but this is not a level playing field and at every turn pro-EU propaganda is directed at them. It is just plain wrong,” said Mr Nuttall.

Stop the EU meddling in British home ownership

January 26, 2012

News that EU interference in our mortgage market could force North West families out of their homes has been branded a “disgrace” by MEP Paul Nuttall.

“People are under enough financial pressure already without the EU meddling in mortgage regulation and potentially forcing them out of their homes. This is an absolute disgrace.

“The Euro crisis is already putting the squeeze on bank lending and now this EU directive will make things worse. The last thing that UK householders need is this ridiculous move from the EU,” said Mr Nuttall, UKIP Euro-MP for the North West.

It is feared that a directive being pushed through the European Parliament will force repossessions, speed up eviction processes and cut the discretion that building societies and banks can give those struggling to keep up with their payments.

“The EU should get its own financial house in order before interfering in the mortgages of the British people,” said Mr Nuttall, UKIP deputy leader.

Petition backed by MEP

January 19, 2012

Local MEP Paul Nuttall has added his support to a petition campaign by Anne Williams, who lost her 15-year-old son Kevin in the Hillsborough tragedy.

She is fighting for a new inquest into the teenager’s untimely death and has so far collected more than 42,000 signatures on a government e-petition calling for an accidental death verdict to be overturned.

Her previous calls to the Attorney General have been rejected three times but undeterred she is still battling to uncover the truth and needs 100,000 e-petition signatures by Thursday (Jan 19) so that the issue can be debated in parliament.

“My heart goes out to Anne Williams and her family.  I know they will never rest until a new inquest is held and her concerns about the unanswered questions over his death are resolved,” said Mr Nuttall, UKIP’s deputy leader.

“I lost close personal friends at that match and understand as well as anyone how deep the scars of that tragedy go. Time is tight for this e-petition and I urge everyone to sign it.”
