Political Elite Detached From Reality
July 11
Dear Sir,
It just goes to show how far removed from the realities of life and, therefore, the rest of us, our dysfunctional political establishment has become.
The farming minister Jim Paice was asked if he knew much a pint of milk cost to consumers. He replied,”No, because my wife buys most of it, but I have checked with her where it comes from.” (Would that be cows?).
Both David Cameron and George Osborne have also both been criticised for not knowing the answer either, and in 2008 Liberal Democrat leader, Nick Clegg, said that a single person’s pension was ” about £30 a week”, when in fact it was £90.70.
It is worrying that they obviously don’t have any idea of the high cost of living that affects the daily lives of most people and much of which has been caused through high taxation by these very people who are now in government.
Our country deserves better.
Yours faithfully
Philip Griffiths, North West Chairman

Got something to say?

Of course Clegg didn’t know the single persons pension. It is not something that concerns him. All any of them are interested in is power, how their having that power affects the ‘man in the street is irrelevant, Clegg knows he will be seeking a new job after the next election, so he wants us to stay in the EU so he can do a Kinnock, and join the gravy train.
The fact is, the only ones who are actually facing the economic reality are our wonderful MEP’s under the leadership of Nigel Farage.
