Petition success welcomed by MEP

North West MEP Paul Nuttall has welcomed the news that Anne Williams, who lost her 15-year-old son Kevin in the Hillsborough tragedy, has today reached the 100,000 names she needs in her petition campaign.

She is fighting for a new inquest into the teenager’s untimely death and her e-petition calling for an accidental death verdict to be overturned
today reached the target she needs for it to be eligible for debate in the House.

Her previous calls to the Attorney General have been rejected three times but undeterred she is still battling to uncover the truth.

“My heart goes out to Anne Williams and her family.  I know they will never rest until a new inquest is held and her concerns about the unanswered questions over his death are resolved,” said Mr Nuttall, UKIP’s deputy leader.

“I lost close personal friends at that match and understand as well as anyone how deep the scars of that tragedy go. I am delighted that she has acquired sufficient signatures on her petition and it goes to show how seriously this issue must be taken.”
