Migration report welcomed
Local MEP Paul Nuttall today welcomed a new report which has highlighted the ‘remarkable coincidence’ between the rise in youth unemployment in the UK and the huge surge in immigration from Eastern Europe over the last eight years.
The report by think-tank Migration Watch UK shows an apparent correlation between this surge and the growth in UK youth unemployment that followed.
“This report shows what we have been arguing for years,” said Mr Nuttall, UKIP deputy leader.
“As Sir Andrew Green, Migration Watch chairman says when the two statistics are placed side by side people would consider it a very remarkable coincidence if there was no link at all between them.
“This situation is not going to improve while we remain in the EU as we are powerless to stop this endless stream of immigrants, in this case mainly from the former Soviet-bloc countries,” said Mr Nuttall.
“The previous Government claimed that migration from these A8 countries has had virtually no impact on UK youth unemployment in this period – this would appear to nail that lie,” he added.
