RESULTS: Skelmersdale South & UpHolland by-elections.
UKIP contested two North West by-elections yesterday.
In Skelmersdale South, UKIP candidate Mike Brennan secured 12.1% of the vote coming close to beating the Conservatives into second place. In UpHolland, UKIP candidate Gary McNulty took 8.1% of the vote.
In both elections, the candidates ran campaigns focused on local issues that really matter to the local residents, the strong performance achieved in this Labour heartland shows that UKIP are now starting to be seen as a credible alternative to the main parties. Well done to the candidates and volunteers in UpHolland and Skelmersdale.
